BECCA Illuminating Backlit Primer | Review + Swatches

After getting into wearing less makeup, I felt like my normal foundation was a bit too heavy for a minimal makeup look. I had been using BECCA illuminating Backlit Priming Filter as a primer under my foundation and decided to try and mix it in, not only did it lighten the colour a little, it just made it possibly the best foundation ever?? It sits really nicely on the skin, gives a glow and wears really well. It makes you looks dewy but not oily! I'm obsessed. Look at the pic below showing foundation by itself, then the primer and then the 2 mixed. It's just perfect, not super full coverage and super glowy.

It is a bit pricey but as I'm using it with my foundation together I'm not getting through it as fast. I also like to use it as a highlight. On my collar bones and even on top of my foundation on my cheekbones. It's amazing. I normally mix the foundation on the back of my hand, one pump of each and apply in buffing motion with a buffing foundation brush, not a fan at all of beauty blenders so I'm not sure how it would apply with one. I also normally spritz my foundation brush with a spray, like MAC Fix+ or something similar.

I mentioned this product before and mentioned that I was just using it as primer. It's always a good idea to play around with your makeup because you might just discover something new! Looking to Cult Beauty's website this is what they have to say about it, and how to apply it.

{BECCA}'s beautiful illuminating Backlit Priming Filter is the ultimate foil for dulled skin showing signs of fatigue. Ultra-subtle, ‘soft focus’ pigments blur the visibility of imperfections – refracting and diffusing light to lend skin a flawless, lit-from-within look – like somebody inside your head just switched a lamp on (and who doesn’t want that?). With a featherweight texture, this melts into skin – blending seamlessly to create an enviably smooth and dewy canvas – while antioxidant vitamin E and tightening liquorice extract combine to brighten, firm and ward against free radical-attack. The ultimate first step in your make up ritual, this is essentially a photographic filter in a bottle.

Creators of the finest, skin-perfecting formulas, BECCA’s gorgeous Backlight Priming Filter is the secret to a gorgeous glow. Synonymous with effortless enhancement, BECCA’s multi-award-winning range stars rich pigments, soft hues and weightless coverage to facilitate an enviable, airbrushed effect – so you look naturally luminous (and absolutely flawless). With emphasis placed firmly on creating the perfect canvas, BECCA’s primer, illuminators and foundations blur together seamlessly, to help you achieve the ultimate, naturally-faultless skin-finish. Think your skin, just better.

Use under foundation or alone, in the t-zone, or all over the face. Suitable for all skin types, including oily and combination.

Here it's just on bare skin, can you see that SHINE! Looks really nice over collarbones and chest

This is something that I will for sure repurchase when it's empty, I'm looking forward to using it in the summer as it will definitely enhance a natural tan. Looking at the BECCA products that I've tried, they seem so good. I've tried their highlighters in Opal and Champagne Pop and the liquid highlighter in Opal. I think I want to try some of their other products maybe their foundations?
