Hollywood Laser | Review | Azul, Clontarf
My experience getting hollywood laser hair removal
Laser hair removal is something that I had wanted to get done for a long time. I find waxing annoying not to mention painful AF! You go through all that PAIN and results last for 4ish weeks. Laser hair removal results in a permanent reduction of hair growth and you need to go and get a touch up approx once a year maybe a bit more depending on the client.
I chose Azul as I know they are so well known for how excellent they are. Clontarf was really easy for me to get to as I was living in Rathmines and I was able to get the 15 bus from right outside my house, or I could get on the DART and it is only one stop from city centre. Their salon is stunning, the decor is so beautiful. All of their staff are so lovely and professional. I have really enjoyed the course of treatments with them and I always looked forward to going for the appointments.
The staff are super welcoming and make you feel really relaxed. On a pain scale, I found it about 3/10, slightly uncomfortable but okay. i had been told it felt like a hot rubber band being snapped on the skin, that’s slighty true but honestly not that bad. The area treated would be a little red for about 12hrs after. I have heard others saying it is unbearable but I didn’t find this. Compared to waxing, it doesn’t hurt at all! It's also a lot quicker than waxing, for a hollywood wax it would be about 30min, for laser it took total about 15min.
In between your sessions (every 6 weeks) you can either shave or let the hair grow. You must shave before your appointment so either the night before or before you go. No waxing in-between sessions as the laser targets the hair, if you have waxed, there is no hair! The darker and thicker the hair is the better!
It is recommended not to expose your skin (sunbathing/tanning) for 4 weeks before and after your laser session. Keep this in mind when considering laser, I chose to start my 6 sessions in October, that way I was done for my holidays in summer.
The minimum number of sessions is 6, but some people may need more. Then a yearly touch up. This will all be explained to you at your appointment with your therapist, as everyone is different you may get different instructions!
1 Year on, the hair growth is significantly reduced. Remember, laser is NOT permanent hair removal, it’s a reduction. You will still need to shave/wax the area but how often will be reduced as the hair grows back thinner, slower and more sparse.
I would for sure recommend laser, I plan to get my underarms and legs done at some point so I will do an updated post on them when and if I do!
