No Frills | Essential Makeup

Two Brushes + 6 Products

So, this evening I am rushing after work to a dinner. I was up really early this morning and too tired to do makeup when I woke up. Also, I hate doing makeup in artificial light, which is the only light available on these dark winter mornings! So instead, I’ve brought my makeup with me to work and I will do it there. These are my essentials and as you can see, there’s not that many! Let’s get started!

Everyone has their preferences when it comes to moisturiser, especially if you have any specific skin concerns. I got this one from The Ordinary for Christmas and I have been using it since, I am really liking it under makeup as it doesn’t leave the skin feeling oily or greasy. For SPF a really good product to have is the Dermalogica solar defence booster, you just add a drop to either foundation or moisturiser.

Foundation - Becca Backlight Priming Filter + Nars Sheer Glow

Since the summer I have been mixing my own foundation. I’m over the full coverage look and I want to actually see my skin. I mix Becca backlight priming filter with my NARS sheer glow in shade stromboli. One pump of Becca and a tiny bit of foundation. I mix these together and I am obsessed with how the look and wear on the skin! I have a full post on that here. This is the foundation I did all summer while we were in Ukraine. It’s so light and doesn’t feel too cakey in the heat.

Becca - Backlight Priming Filter | What they say about it..

Harness the full beauty of your makeup with Becca Backlight Priming Filter, a makeup primer designed to blur imperfections whilst diffusing the light in the most wonderful way.

Thanks to Becca’s revolutionary blend of crushed pearls, this primer creates a lit-from-within luminosity and delivers a wonderful complexion.

As a result, the skin features a gorgeous finish and the makeup lasts throughout the day and into the night.

Contour - Mac Blush - Harmony

My holy grail, all time fav.. MAC harmony blush. I have mentioned it so many times before, I use it for contour, bronzing, blush, eyeshadow. I just love it! I like to use this as a contour when I have minimal makeup, it’s not super harsh! When I have a full face of full coverage foundation I prefer to use my Anastasia Beverly Hills Cream Contour Kit, I have done a few posts where I talk more about it so check them out!

EYES Glossier Boy Brow.jpg

I go between brow products. I have been using just a matte brown shadow with an angled brush but today I wanted to just go with brow gel. I used the Glossier one which is almost used up! I have a full post on that here where I show a before and after on bare brows!

What they say about it..

All brow needs have been considered to create THE brow product: one to thicken, fill in, and groom brows into place. The creamy wax formula is inspired by traditional hair pomade for soft, flexible hold that doesn’t stiffen or flake. Comes in four shades: BlondBrown, and Black boost brows with an oomph of color, while Clear gives you the same soft, conditioning hold minus the pigment. We’re inspired by healthy, face-framing brows and consider brow grooming the last crucial step to heading out into the world: brush your teeth, brush your brows, and then maybe brush your hair.

Lips - Mac Liner - Subculture

Today I used lip liner and lipstick but usually I just use MAC subculture lipliner and then pair it with a balm or a gloss. Today I used MAC Honeylove which is the shade I used on my wedding day! I think I always go for this neutral muted shade on the lips! Beware, Honeylove is quite drying!

Subculture is my favourite liner shade, it’s super natural for my lips!

Brushes - Real Techniques Cheek Brush + Flawless Kabuki Brush

For this look I used just 2 brushes! The cheek brush to apply my contour and the kabuki brush to apply my foundation! As I have lash extensions on I have avoided 3-4 brushes for eyeshadow! You can still purchase the Real Techniques brush but the kabuki brush is by an Irish brand, but there are loads similar available!

And that’s all, I brushed my lash extensions at the end with my little lash brush as well. If I didn’t have lash extensions it would easily add 15-20min more onto this quick 10 min routine! Eyeshadow, liner, mascara on top and bottom lashes… So that’s another reason I swear by extensions! You can get away with no eye makeup whatsoever!

Have you tried any of these products? Any recommendations for me?
