THE BEST DRUGSTORE FOUNDATIONS
Finding that perfect shade of foundation can honestly be mission impossible. Too orange, too pink, too yellow. The list goes on. The foundation I look for is one with warm yellow undertones. If you have never heard of foundation undertones etc have a quick look here! The three drugstore tried and tested foundations I love and use are...
Bourjois - Healthy Mix - No.52 Vanilla
Bourjois - Healthy Mix Serum - No.53 Light Beige
Revlon - Colour Stay (Combination/Oily) - 180 Sand Beige
You can find these products in most drugstores and they all come in under €20! #fabulous
I've found that both Bourjois foundations are very light weight. The colour range that they come in seem to all be yellow toned. So pick which ever shade that suits you. For me the darkest at 53 or middle at 52 suit me the best. The Healthy Mix Serum is very similar to MAC's studio sculpt as it is a gel foundation, For both foundations I would strongly recommend a primer. The product is lightweight and needs something to stick to, If you have dry patches on your face like I do, a primer like Benefit's porefessional is great. It gives your face a flawless base and these two foundations sit very well on it. I would recommend using either a beauty blender or fluffy foundation brush to apply. Both products are very easy to build.
Revlon Colourstay has a wide range of shades. There's two types of this foundation One suited for Oily/Combination skin and one for dry skin. I've found that the shades suited for Oily combination skin are more yellow toned then the ones for dry skin (apart from the shade 'buff' that is very yellow toned and in the dry skin range) So although I wouldn't consider myself to have oily skin, I would still pick one from that range because of the shade choices. This foundation really does last all day and it sits really well on the skin, again I would recommend to use a primer but it's not a necessity. Its a great foundation to wear for a night out because of it's staying power but I would also use it during the daytime. During the daytime I would use less product and really buff it into the skin, as it's a thick foundation I don't want that much product on my face during the day. I would apply this product with a foundation brush, something like the Real Techniques Buffing Brush.
Here you can see the three foundations swatches. Starting from the left..
